Nellore city to get new roads
Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana stated that they would shortly start laying new roads in for a length of 450 km in the city limits. He also said that they had allocated funds of Rs. 500 crore for these works.
He interacted with local people at Aditya Nagar on Sunday and said they had previously earmarked Rs. 1,100 cr for giving facelift to the city. They prepared plans for making the city an education hub.
The minister said smart city dreams would be realised within 10 months as many programmes are implemented in this direction. He had directed the officials to complete the works as part of action plan by the end of this December. He expressed satisfaction that political leaders, officials and people were striving in making the city a smart one.
He also said Municipal Commissioner was asked to beautify 24 parks in the city limits and the works are in progress. They were also directed to complete water supply works for city population with Rs. 24 crore. City people would be supplied 20 litres of water at Rs. 2 as part of the programme, he said.
The Minister said they had taken up works with Rs. 90 crore under SC/ST sub plan in and around the city. They had prepared plans for construction of under bridges and under passages for the convenience of the city population.
Preparatory works for the proposed Ring Road for the city is also under progress and engaged a consultant for preparing the DPR, he added. NUDA Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy, former legislator MSK Reddy, former municipal chairperson T Anuradha and others were present.
