TDP to be in a quandary as many seek party tickets

Update: 2018-05-14 07:41 IST

Kadapa: Even as TDP is having strong cadre and the government has spent adequate funds for developmental activities  in Kadapa district, it may not be an easy task to get more seats in 2019 polls due to  differences between the leaders in every constituency.

It may be recalled that TDP got victory in only one - Rajampet Assembly segment - against 10 Assembly and 2 MP seats in 2014 elections. However its strength increased to three following defection of Badvel MLA T  Jayaramulu, Jammalamadugu  MLA C Adi Narayana Reddy two years ago. With the same sprit, TDP won two MLC seats in Local Body Constituency elections held last year.

Meanwhile only one year is left for general elections. The party leaders are involved in group politics in every constituency as they compete to get party tickets. It may be recalled that Marketing Minister C Adi Narayana Reddy who recently visited the district  declared his candidature for Jammalamadugu constituency. But party senior leader P Rama Subba Reddy opposed the minister’s candidature. He also threatens to quit the party to join  YSRCP.

In Bedvel the group rivalry between present MLA T Jayaramulu  and former MLA P Vijayamma also intensified and the former threatens to defect to YSRCP if he is not given ticket.

In Prodduturu party in charge J Varadarajula Reddy expecting ticket with the support of Minister C Adi narayana Reddy, while Civil Supplies Department chairman Linga Reddy is also on the race backed by RS member CM Ramesh.

In Rayachoti constituency, former Lakkireddypalli MLA Dwarakanatha Reddy (brother in law of YSR CP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy), R Ramesh Reddy (brother of TDP district president R Srinivasulu Reddy), TDP senior MLA Palakondarayudu’s son  Prasad Babu are expecting tickets.

Same situation prevails in Mydukluru constituency as Putta Sudhakar Yadav is expecting ticket though he was given TTD chairman post. Congress senior leader DL Ravindra Reddy who was proposed to contest under TDP banner, ready to quit the party if he was offered TDP ticket. In Railway Kodur SC constituency, there are disputes  between party in charge Viswanatha Naidu and  former MLC Batyala Changal Raidu to get for their men.

There exists rift between party in-charge Putha Narasimha Reddy and former MLA Veera Siva Reddy in Kamalapuram segment. Interestingly there is no competition for tickets in the constituencies like Pulivendula, Rajampet, and Kadapa city as Pulivendula is the  strong hold for YCP. Government Whip M Mallikarjuna Reddy is  the only candidate got elected in 2014 polls.

Party does not want to change him. In Kadapa city which has 60 percent of Muslim Minorities, there is no proper leadership for TDP. Meanwhile it is learnt that Kadapa parliamentary in charge Minister S Chandramohan Reddy, during the party coordination meetings, collected in the formation and submitted to the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
