Update: 2018-05-17 05:07 IST

Madakasira (Anantapur): Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief N Raghuveera Reddy has appealed to Karnataka Governor to allow government formation as per the norms laid in the constitution.

Stating that the delay in the formation of government will encourage horse-trading, the PCC chief said the Congress-JDS combine should be given a chance for government formation as they have the large number of MLAs.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Raghuveera said the Governor must follow the precedents set forth by the BJP government regarding Goa, Manipur and Punjab states where the Governors did not invite the single largest party. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pressurising the Karnataka Governor to install a BJP government in the state.

He suggested to the governor not to encourage horse-trading in the state where people gave a fractured verdict. Raghuveera observed that the Telugu voters inflicted a blow on Modi in the Karnataka election for denying Special Category Status to AP. The PCC chief blamed the tourism department for the boat tragedy at Manturu in Devipatnam mandal.
