Call to educate people on fundamental rights

Kurnool: Nandikotkur MLA Y Isaiah stressed on the need for educating people on fundamental rights. SC, ST Forum for Social Justice has organised a seminar at Ambedkar Bhavan here on Thursday.

Kodumur MLA M Mani Gandhi, Kurnool MLA SV Mohan Reddy, Nandikotkur MLA Y Isaiah, former MLA Kotha Prakash Reddy, former MLC M Sudhakar Babu, AP SC, ST Lawyers Forum state president Y Jayaraju and several advocates have attended the seminar. Later, the forum also conducted 12-hour Sankalpa Deeksha at the same venue. 

Addressed the gathering, MLA Isaiah made an appeal to the scholars and educationalists, who belong to SC, ST groups to educate their communities on fundamental rights. He also called upon the legal fraternity to organise special camps in rural areas on fundamental rights. 

Jayaraju demanded the Central government to bring out an ordinance immediately to nullify the Supreme Court verdict on SC, ST Atrocities Act. “If necessary, the Atrocities Act should be included in the ninth schedule of the Constitution,” he stated.
