Construction of Anna canteen building at a snail’s pace

Chittoor: Construction of Anna canteen on the premises of District Employment Office near ITI here is going at a snail’s pace. The government announced the Anna canteens would function from June 2 onwards.

The canteens would sell the food items to the white ration cardholders and poor for less rates. Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of Anna canteen in the city. The contract to construction of Anna canteen was handed over to a contractor from Nellore. Meanwhile, 

District Collector P S Pradyumna has instructed the Joint Collector-2 to take measures for establishing Anna canteen in a temporary structure if the construction of the proposed building was not completed by the end of May.
