NSTL bags 3 awards

Visakhapatnam: The Naval Science and Technological Laboratories (NSTL), Visakhapatnam, scored three prestigious awards for their outstanding performance in the excellent research services to the nation. Minister for Defence Nirmala Sitharaman presented the awards to the achievers at the National Technology Day celebrations-2018 in New Delhi on Wednesday.

SM Bhave, Scientist ‘G’ and his team, won the Agni award for excellence in self-reliance for the year 2017. In recognition of their significant contributions in the design, development, manufacture, integration, FATs, HATs and SATs leading to induction of the processor based moored mine into Indian Navy the Agni award was presented to Bhave with a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs and citation.

Dr Manu Korulla, Scientist ‘G’ won the ‘Scientist of the Year’ for the year 2017 with Rs 2 lakhs and citation. In recognition of his outstanding contribution in the design and development of a unique Torpedo Launch and Recovery Vessel, which has been commissioned as an Indian Naval Ship INS Astradharini, the award was presented to Manu.

PVS Ganesh Kumar, Scientist ‘G’ won the ‘Scientist of the Year’ for the year 2016 with Rs 2 lakhs cash and citation for his significant scientific and techno-managerial contributions in the domain of Signature Management.
