Sub-registrar held for helping land grabbers

Vijayawada: The city police arrested Gannavaram sub-registrar B Sai Krishna Reddy and senior assistant Konikineni Srinivasa Rao for helping a gang to produce fake documents. The gang had tried to grab 366 square yards of vacant site at Gurunanak Colony belonging to Chalasani Nageswara Rao. Suspecting foul play, the land owners informed the police about the efforts of the gang to grab the land with fake registration.

Patamata police on May 14 arrested the five-member gang consisting of Kukati Joseph Stanley of Madhura Nagar, Kambagalla Raju of Ajit Singh Nagar, Karampudi Srinivasa Rao of Vijay Nagar Colony, Mukkamala Raja Chand alias Rajesh of Veterinary Colony, all from Vijayawada and Manchineella Gopala Krishna of Guntur. The police said the gang took the help of sub-registrar and his assistant for creating a fake document.

The police during the investigation noticed the involvement of sub-registrar and senior assistant in the offence and arrested the duo on Wednesday night.  Earlier, they successfully prevented the gang from grabbing the land, which is valued at Rs.4 crore.
