Kurnool: A supervisor working in Integrated Child Development Society (ICDS) placed at Allagadda committed suicide after plunging from Collector’ office here on Friday afternoon. According to the available information, the deceased was identified as Sobha Rani and was native of Allagadda.

For the past some days, she was said to be facing harassment from her CDPO. Memos were served to her for not attending rallies conducted by the department on various issues. Unable to bear the torture of the CDPO, she was said to be in a state of depression, her relatives complain.

The CDPOs organised a meeting at ICDS department on the first floor in Collector office complex on Friday and the supervisors from the district were invited to attend the programme.

Sobha Rani also attended the meeting along with other supervisors.  In the middle of the meeting, Sobha Rani went to the second floor of the building and in a sudden move jumped to the ground. She suffered serious bleeding injuries and breathed her last.

The ICDS and other collectorate staff were shocked with the unexpected incident that took place at the Collector’s complex. She was  rushed to Kurnool General Hospital where the doctors declared her `brought dead.’ The District Collector, S Sathyanaryana on knowing about the incident immediately ordered an inquiry into the matter.

When The Hans India spoke to ICDS Project Director, Jubeda Begum, she said that the Collector ordered an inquiry into the issue. The CDPO might have served memos on the grounds of disciplinary action. I too don’t know what forced her to take the extreme step. The facts would come to fore after a thorough investigation. The deceased was survived with husband and three children.
