Thunderstorms to lash 5 north coastal districts today

Hyderabad: The Met department on Friday warned of thunderstorms with gusty winds lashing isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Godavari districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh on May 19.

The department bulletin said thunderstorms with gusty winds occurred in north coastal districts besides Rayalaseema. Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district received 6 cm of rainfall, Denkada 5, Salur & Vizianagaram 4 each, Merakamudidam 3, Mentada, Therlam & Bondapalle 2 cm each were the other areas in Vizianagaram district received rainfall.

According to bulletin, while Veeraghattam (Srikakulam district) and Pusapatirega (Vizianagaram) received 2 cm each, there was 1 cm each in Seethanagaram, Garividi, Garugubilli, Parvathipuram, Anakapalle, Araku valley, Visakhapatnam, Komarada, Gantyada, Ranastalam and Jiyyamma Valasa. The highest day temperature of 43 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram.
