2 die as car rams into parked truck

Visakhapatnam: Two persons of a family died on the spot and three others sustained injuries after their Hyundai i-20 car rammed into a stationary LPG cylinders-laden truck on NH-16 near Velanki area under Anandapuram police station limits in Vizag city on Saturday. 

The deceased were identified as Satyanarayana Pathivada (59), Director of Gayatri College, Gotlam Campus in Vizianagaram and principal of government junior college, Vizianagaram, his son Pathivada Sandeep (32), a software engineer. Satyanarayana’s wife P Krishnaveni, his daughter-in-law P Anusha and his two-year-old grandson suffered injuries and they were admitted in a private hospital in Vizag city. The condition of Krishnaveni is said to be in critical.
 
Inspector of PM Palem (traffic) S Himabindu said the accident occurred when the family was going to Vizianagaram from Vizag city. The police said that the car hit the truck that was parked on road side near a hotel. 

Satyanarayana, who is in driver’s seat, has lost control over the steering wheel while trying to overtake a vehicle and rammed into the truck.  The impact of the accident was such that the front part of the car was completely damaged, Himabindu added. The Anandapuram police have shifted the bodies to KG Hospital for post-mortem.
