Build corporate-academia interactions: Panelists
Visakhapatnam: The Japanese Information and Study Centre of Andhra University conducted a panel discussion on Need for Corporate-Academia Interactions. The speakers underscored the need to take care of career opportunities of youth which consists of 65 per cent of the country’s population.
While opening the discussion, Director, Japan Information and Study Centre Prof DVR Murthy said that industrialists should change existing names of designations to create catchy names to attract the youth to join in the jobs. The professor said there is a big gap between the industry and academia.
The representatives from the industry and corporate sectors are not coming to interact with the academia and faculty members are not convening the meetings to register HR needs of industry. If, the both parties jointly worked out, the need of HR personnel would be shape up in academia, Murthy said. He called upon the youth to change their mindset and should develop ‘go and approach’ mentality to chase the goals, he added.
The speakers including Rector AU Prof K Gayathri Devi, Chairman of Vijay Nirman Company Dr S Vijayakumar, Dhunis Technologies MD Sudheer Varma and felt there has been potential among youth and it should be tapped for nation development. Measures should be made to train the youth towards right direction by providing professional skills and make them to participate in the nation building, they said.
