Prestigious institutions to come up at Gannvaram
Vijayawada: Many prestigious national and state institutions will come up in Gannavaram mandal in Krishna district as 300 acres of land was allocated to various institutions by the state government.
The Central government had sanctioned some institutions of national importance to the state as per the AP Bifurcation Act. Besides, the state government is also planning to set up some institutions in Gannavaram mandal.
The state government as part of its efforts for the development of the state is allocating valuable lands worth crores of rupees for setting up of prestigious institutions. Due to administrative and other reasons, the setting up of institutions is getting delayed.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will set up training institute in 50 acres land. Earlier, the SDRF had decided to allocate the land in Mangalagiri in Guntur district. But, due to setting up of AIIMS near Mangalagiri, the state government had allocated land near Kondapavuluru village in Gannavaram mandal.
The rocky area near Kondapavuluru village in Gannavaram mandal and Adavinekkalam village in Agiripalli mandal would become a hub of national institutes.
The Central government had decided to set up Ayush Department institute in 25 acres land near Kondapavuluru village. The Indian Institute for Plantation Management will set up its institute in 15 acres land. A private medical institution will set up medical institute in 100 acres land in the same mandal. Another institute will set up Skill Development Centre in 15 acres land.
Foundation was laid for the construction of southern campus of the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) recently to set up its research and training institute in 10 acres. Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu played a vital role in the allocation of these institutions to the state.
Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for construction of the southern campus of the NIDM, he listed out the institutions that would come up in Gannavaram mandal.
Gannavaram mandal is already well-known for airport which is handling about eight lakh passengers in a year. Gannavaram mandal may be developed into a tourist centre with the Brahma Lingeswara tank where boating and recreation activities can be introduced in the coming years.
The mandal is well-known for a hub of educational institutions particularly engineering colleges, a medical college and dairy plants.
