Lightning claims 2 lives in Kurnool

Kurnool: Lightning claimed two lives at Chippagiri village in Alur mandal in the district on Wednesday.The deceased were identified as UllekalRamanjaneyulu, 23 and ArikeraVenkateshwarulu, 11.

According to Chippagirisub-inspector M Abdul Zaheer, the duo were residents of Chippagiri and were grazing a flock of sheep in the field. The heavy rainaccompanied by thunder and lightning prompted them to take shelter under a nearby tree.

However, both died on the spot when they were struck by lightning. The lightning also claimed a lamb besides injuring one Thimappa. The police shifted the bodies to Alur general hospital for autopsy. It is learnt that UllekalRamanjaneyulu was recently married. With the unexpected incident, both family members were in a state of shock.
