42 stolen bikes recovered, 3 held

Rajamahendravaram: The crime police nabbed three motor bike lifters and recovered 42 motor bikes worth Rs 25 lakh from them here on Thursday. The trio were arrested at Kotilingala Ghat and Bollineni Hospital when they were moving in suspicious circumstances.

Speaking to media at DSP office, Superintendent of Police (urban) B Raja Kumari said the accused were identified as Kuppala Ranga Rao (46), Satyavada village of Undrajavaram mandal, Veeramallu NageswaraRao (42) of Kanuru village of Peravali mandal and Korada Venkateswarlu (38) of Vadapalli village Kovvur mandal in West Godavari.

Thirty motor cycles were recovered from Kuppala Ranga Rao and Veeranallu Nageswara Rao and 12 motor cycles from Korada Venkateswarlu. Ranga Rao was involved in motor cycle thefts for 20 years in Ravulapalem and Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari, Nuzivid in Krishna district and Palacole, Bhimavaram, Tanuku and Tadepalligudem in West Godavari.

So far, he has stolen over 100 bikes and was sent to central prison Rajamahendravaram, sub-jails in Nuzivid and Tanuku many a time and a history-sheet was opened against him in Undrajavaram police station. 

He was released from Nuzivid sub-jail in August 2017 and again involved in motor bike thefts. His associate Nageswara Rao was also sent to jail many a time.

Meanwhile, Korada Venkateswarlu stolen 12 motor cycles in Mandapeta, Ravulapalem and RTC complex in Rajamahendravaram and kept them in his house at Ravulapalem. On a tipoff, DSP (crimes) I Trinadh Rao, sub-inspectors P Murali Krishna Reddy, PSK Viswanadh and P Venkanna nabbed the accused.
