Red sanders logs worth 1 cr seized; 5 nabbed

Kadapa: The forest officials arrested 5 smugglers at Kollavaripalli village in Rajampet mandal in the early hours of Wednesday and seized 203 red sanders logs worth Rs 1 crore from them. The accused were identified as K Mohana Chary of Rajampet, M Nagendra Setti of Railway Kodur mandal and 3 others belong to Bihar state.

Speaking to the media, District Forest Officer Sk Khadar Valli said, on a tip off, the forest staff have conducted the raids at Kollavaripalli village and arrested the accused and seized logs and a container from them.

He stated another 7 smugglers have managed to escape from the spot. He said that the cost of 203 red sanders logs would be Rs 1 crore in the private market. Rajampet Forest Ranger V Srinivasulu and others were present.
