Ruckus in East Godavari Zilla Parishad meet

Kakinada: The general body meeting of East Godavari Zilla Parishad witnessed heated arguments between AP Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Reddy Subrahmanyam and Kothapeta YSRCP MLA Chirla Jaggi Reddy on Thursday.

Collector Karthikeya Mishra, who attended the meeting for the first time left the meeting hall, hurriedly. Noticing the uproarious scenes, Zilla Parishad Chairman Jyotula Naveen adjourned the House which reassembled after more than half-an-hour. It all started when the discussion on sand quarrying and unauthorised use of machines came for discussion.

When the discussion turned to sand quarrying in Kothapeta Assembly constituency in the River Godavari, the war of wards surfaced between the Deputy Chairman and MLA as both hail from the same place. The ZP Chairman pacified the Deputy Chairman and ZPTC members of YSRCP and pleaded the MLA to maintain restraint.

The two leaders threw agenda papers and water bottles against each other while using abusive language. After adjournment, the discussion of various issues continued and Collector Karthikeya Mishra took the initiative in giving replies. Later, joint collector  A Mallikarjuna joined the meeting as rh Collector left for meeting with the MGNREGS official team from New Delhi.
