Youth stage protest over filling of posts on contract-basis: DYFI
Vijayawada: MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao, former MLC Satyanarayana and members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) handed over a memorandum to the director of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development here on Thursday, demanding that the government cancel GO No 39 and fill all the vacant Panchayat Secretary posts through APPSC.
The director responded positively and assured that necessary action would be taken after discussing with the concerned officials.
Addressing the gathering, MLC Nageswara Rao said that the government was cheating the unemployed youth by giving jobs on contract basis.
He wanted all the 1.85 lakh vacant posts including Panchayat Secretary (PS) posts to be filled through common entrance examinations only. He asked the government to cancel the GO 39.
Earlier, the members of DYFI staged a protest at the Department of Panchayat Raj and Rural Developmentoffice raising slogans to cancel GO 39.
They demanded that the government fill all the 5,600 Panchayat Secretary vacant posts through APPSC notification.
DYFI secretary M Surya Rao said that the government was deceiving the youth by filling a few vacant posts through contract basis.
