ICG vessel delivered

Visakhapatnam: The last of the series of five Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPVs), ‘Rani Rashmoni’, yard 11158, built here at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) was handed over to Indian Coast Guard during a ceremony on Thursday in the presence of DIG Sudhir Sahni, Principal Director (Mat) and senior officials of Coast Guard.

The IPV is a high-speed vessel built of light steel and fitted with water jets propulsion system. These water jet propelled vessels are powered by MTU engines with advanced machinery control system and can achieve maximum speed of 34 knots.

These ships are considered workhorses of the Coast Guard with 51.15 M length, 8.36 M width and 346 tons displacement. The vessel meets IMO standards and are built to dual class certification by IRS and ABS.

While delivering the vessel, Chairman and Managing Director of HSL Rear Admiral LV Saratbabu expressed gratitude to Indian Coast Guard for their cooperation during the construction of the vessel and sought their support for future projects.

He recollected the valuable contributions made by the legendary ‘Rani Rashmoni’ to humanity and her daring confrontation with the British forces during the 19th century. 

The CMD congratulated all officers, staff, workmen and all partners of HSL for their concerted efforts in enabling delivery of the vessel in a fully operational state. He specifically stated that ‘Rani Rashmoni’ achieved all contractual parameters in the very first sea sortie itself.
