Pawan vows to continue fight for the cause of kidney patients

Srikakulam: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan vowed to continue his fight for the cause of kidney patients till government addressed their problems.  He continued his hunger strike on Saturday at Government Arts College grounds in Srikakulam city. 

He changed his venue from Datla Homes of SSR Puram village in Etcherla mandal to Srikakulam. Speaking on the occasion, Pawan expressed concern over politicians not caring for human values. “Leaders are not responding properly when common man is in trouble and fate of chronic kidney patients is a live example for that,” he said.

He described Jana Sena as a different political party which would stick to its values. He said the party would fulfill its assurances to people. Jana Sena would strive to address the health issues faced by women, he said. CPM State secretary P Madhu, CPI State secretary, K Ramakrishna, leaders of Left parties M Nageswara Rao, B Krishnamurthy, K Nagamani and S Narasimhulu expressed their solidarity with Pawan.

Speaking on the occasion, CPM and CPI leaders flayed the TDP government for its lethargic attitude towards kidney patients. They criticised successive State governments for not coming to the rescue of the patients at Uddanam. They alleged that a Minister from Srikakulam district was concentrating on wine shops while an MLA was encouraging sand mafia. 

The leaders of Left parties assured to continue their support to Jana Sena on issues pertaining to the poor. Former minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar, locally noted doctors, professionals and activists  from different political parties met Pawan and expressed their support. 

Police made tight security arrangements. Youth were keen to visit Pawan at hunger strike venue. Later, in the evening at 5 pm, Pawan called off his stir by taking lemon juice offered by a boy Siddhardha who belonged to a family affected by kidney disease at Uddanam.
