Provide financial aid for kidney patients: Left

Vijayawada: CPM activists laid siege to the tahsild office at A Konduru demanding that the government provide ambulance, dialysis centres, medicines and financial support. They alleged that the government forgot the promises made to support A Konduru mandal kidney disease patients in all aspects.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, CPM State Committee member Ch Babu Rao said four people died in the last two months due to non-availability of treatment. He said that even after Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao assured the patients to provide medical facilities to people, deaths continued.

He alleged that the government was misusing the funds for Navanirmana Deeksha, Dharmaporata Deeksha and ignoring the health issues of tribals. He demanded that the government provide all the medical equipment assured to kidney patients. He said that ambulance, dialysis centres and medicines should be provided for 300 patients suffering from kidney ailments in A Kondur and Gampalagudem mandals. 

If no action is taken by the government, the CPM leaders would stage a protest in Vijayawada city, he said. He further demanded that the government announce Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of families.

The CPM leaders handed over a memorandum regarding the same to tahasildar.  CPM leaders G Vijay Prakash, Jatti Venkateswara Rao, P Anand Rao, D Ramudu, AB Goparaju, DYFI leader N Nageswara Rao and others participated in the protest.
