Misbranded soft drinks seized

Srikakulam: The vigilance and enforcement department officials seized misbranded soft drink packets with the assistance of food safety officials on Saturday at Chilakapalem in Etcherla mandal on the National Highway (NH-16). 

According to regional vigilance and enforcement officer T Harikrishna, on a tip-off, they launched a checking drive and seized 2,650 soft drinks packets worth Rs 2, 97,847. 

Soft drinks are manufactured at Perungvur near Chennai on which brand and batch numbers, including date of manufacturing and expiry are not printed properly. 

Deputy vigilance officer K Bhargavrao Naidu, Inspectors G Chandra and K Krishna also participated in the checking drive.
