RIMS JUDAs threaten to launch state-wide stir

Srikakulam: Death of a four-year-old girl led to a dispute between the kin of the deceased and junior doctors at RIMS Hospital here. It may be recalled that one week ago, a girl Joshika was admitted to RIMS Hospital five hours after snake bite. Subsequently, she died due to respiratory arrest. Doctors said that she died due to delay in admitting the girl to the hospital and as a result her condition deteriorated.

But irate kin of the deceased manhandled and threatened a junior doctor P Ravi Kumar who was on duty. Kin of the girl also lodged a complaint with police against the RIMS Institution and duty doctors.

On learning about the attack, all the junior doctors launched agitation for two days and they also lodged a complaint against the kin of the deceased for attacking the junior doctor.  Later, they intensified their stir till May 26 demanding action against the persons who behaved rudely. 

“The snake bite victim was admitted to RIMS five hour after snake bite, hence, condition worsened and as a result we were unable to save her”, Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) representatives NSS Mahesh, P Dheeraj, B Somasekhar, P Ravi Kumar and A Supradeep Reddy told The Hans India on Sunday. “We are demanding security for us while on duty, action against persons otherwise we will launch statewide agitation”, JUDAs warned on Sunday.
