3 hurt as police jeep hits bike
Vijayawada: Three persons, including two children were injured near Pappula mill area of Penamaluru mandal when a police jeep which was on patrol duty for Mahanadu accidentally dashed a bike. The police dropped the injured children near the Time hospital at Ashok Nagar after the mishap.
According to information K Bala Sankar, a resident of Kankipadu was going to Kanaka Durga temple on bike with two children of his relatives. When the bike reached Pappula mill centre, a speeding jeep hit the vehicle. Consequently, K Bala Sankar, 34, Karthikeya a 4-year-old boy and B Hima Jyothy, a 14-year-old girl were hurt in the mishap. The jeep driver dropped them at Time hospital and left away.
The relatives of the injured staged a protest near the hospital over the irresponsible attitude of the police, who left them after the injury. The girl sustained leg injury and boy on the forehead. Meanwhile, police conducted breathalyzer test on the jeep driver, which proved he was drunk at the time of driving, said police in a release.
