Huge response to Hans’s health initiative for women
Visakhapatnam: A massive response was witnessed at all free health check-up camps for women, organised by The Hans India in association with various corporate hospitals in the city on Monday. In order to provide health rights to the women May 28 is being celebrated as International Day of Acton for Women’s Health since 1987.

Celebrating the 32nd International Day of Action for Women’s Health, noted health institutions, including GITAM Hospital at Pedajalaripet, CARE Hospital at Maharanipeta, Q1 Hospitals at Health City, Dr.Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Waltair Main Road, AN Beach Hospital, Krishnanagar, Maharanipeta, Dr.Demudubabu Kamala Nursing Home at Marripalem, Queen’s NRI Hospital at Seethammadhara, and KIMS-ICON Hospital at Sheelanagar joined hands with The Hans India’s initiative of holding the free health check-up for women.
With an aim of taking free health check-up service to more number of women and girlchildren, The Hans India had carried out a massive publicity about the initiative in all the areas in the vicinity of the eight corporate hospitals taking part in the programme. Utilising the free service at their nearest hospitals, women in big numbers visited the hospitals and enrolled their names since 9 am.
The doctors at the hospitals conducted all the basic medical examinations to the women and prescribed necessary treatment. Some hospitals also dispensed medicines free of cost. Most of the women underwent the medical examinations in the gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and dermatology. For the first time, a large number of women underwent health check-ups during the daylong event.
While inaugurating the free health check-up service, the doctors interacted with the women and stressed the need for a health check-up at least twice a year. The doctors said that particularly women after 30 years of age must go for a general medical check-up to lead a healthy life.
Some women doctors explained to the women about the importance of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health.
Not only doctors but also nurses, paramedical staff and administrative staff of the hospitals actively and enthusiastically extended their services to the women. Deputy General Manager, Advertisement Department KVM Prasada Rao and Manager, Circulation Department, The Hans India, along with their teams supervised the arrangements for the mega free health check-up initiative.
CARE Hospitals
CARE Hospitals, well known for providing all category of medical services, joined hands with The Hand India’s initiation in free health checkup for women on the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health on Monday.
The CARE management directed all its doctors covering all the departments to conduct free health checkup including various screening tests. Good number of women visited the hospital and utilised the medical services.
CARE super specialty doctors including B Padmaja and Triveni Reddy supervised the health check-up programme. Women from various areas in the vicinity of the hospitals including Maharanipeta, Official Colony and Dandu Bazar visited the hospital and underwent various medical tests
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Padmaja appreciated the efforts of The Hans India towards the health care of women and advised to continue such services to all sections of people periodically.
AN Beach Hospital
Over 60 women thronged AN Beach Hospital, located at Krishnanagar, Maharanipeta to free health checkup camp organised on the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health on Monday. The hospital management also distributed medicines at free of cost to women on the occasion.
Chief doctor of the hospital Dr CMA Mustaq Ahmad, ortho surgeon Dr Mrudula Karri, gynecologist and dietician K Lakshmi and other doctors attended the women and conducted necessary medical tests.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mustaq Ahmad congratulated The Hans India and said that AN Beach Hospitals is always in forefront in such social responsibility activities. The health camp was necessary for men and children also at least twice in a year, Ahmad said. The patients after receiving the free medicines thanked The Hans India for conducting such medical camp.
Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital
Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Waltair Main Road,in association with The Hans India conducted free eye checkup at free of cost on Monday on the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health. Good number of women availed the camp. The doctors and staff of the hospital after eye check up, interacted the patients and advised them on various precautions to keep the eyes healthy.
Managing Director of the hospital Dr K Gnaneswar and in-charge of the hospital Dr James conducted various eye tests and distributed medicines to women. Speaking on the occasion, in-charge of hospital Dr James advised the men and children to check their eyes at least once in a year for healthy and normal vision.
Dr Demudubabu Kamala Nursing Home
A large number of women utilised the free health checkup camp for women held at Dr Demudubabu Kamala Nursing Home located at Marripalem in the city. As part of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, in association with Demudubabu Kamala Nursing Home, The Hans India conducted a free health check-up for women on Monday.
Managing Director of the Nursing Home Dr K Demudu Babu along with all the doctors of the hospital including Dr Madhavi attended to women and conducted medical tests at free of cost. The hospital management registered the names of patients and advised them for periodical examinations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Demudu Babu said that the hospital was always rendering all sorts of medical tests at an affordable cost only and congratulated The Hans India for their novel initiative. Even some of the doctors are also not aware that a day is dedicated for the women’s health and The Hans India brought in light, Demudu Babu said.
GITAM Hospital
The city unit of GITAM Hospital located at Pedajalaripeta joined hands with The Hans India and extended free medical services to women on Monday.
As part of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, the GITAM Hospitals has deployed several specialist doctors to its city unit and rendered all sorts of medical checkups to women. The women from surrounding areas thronged free health checkup particularly the fishermen community.
Dr Preethi Bondada, Dr Navya, Dr Sai Sanjana and para-medical staff led by Suresh supervised the health camp. Over 60 women availed the health services. After medical tests, the doctors distributed medicines to needy at free of cost. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Preethi said advised the women, particularly after 30 years, must go for a health checkup. She congratulated The Hans India and advised to conduct more such camps periodically.
KIMS-ICON hospital
Visakhapatnam: KIMS-ICON, the super specialty hospital located at Sheelanagar also opened the doors for a free health checkup for women on the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health on Monday.
Joining the hands with The Hans India, the KIMS-ICON conducted various medical tests at free of cost. Big number of women rushed to the hospital and underwent various tests. Dr B Radhika supervised the free health checkup programme.
Queen’s NRI Hospitals
Visakhapatnam: One of the noted corporate hospitals in the city, Queen’s NRI Hospitals, joined hands with The Hans India and rendered free medical services at the health check-up for women on Monday. Large number of women patients from Seetammadhara, MMTC Colony, HB Colony and KRM Colony utilised the health checkup camp.
The management opened counters for women and provided medical services. Gynecologist Dr V Saroja and Dr B Nageswara Rao, general physician, along with other specialist doctors attended the patients.
Q1 Hospitals in Health City
Over 50 women availed the free health checkup camp held at Q1 Hospitals in Health City, Chinagadili in the city. Q1 Hospitals, a newly established corporate institution, conducted all health tests to women in surrounding areas including Arilova, Chinagadili, Hanumanthawaka, Pedagadili and Ramakrishnapuram.
Chairman and Managing Director of Q1 Hospital T Ramana Murthy supervised the services to patients. Dr Kavya Chand Y, general medicine, and Dr A Naveen Kumar, laparoscopic surgeon attended the camp.
After registration of names, the staff conducted tests including diabetic, hemoglobin levels and other necessary tests. Some patients have been sent for further medical tests after noticing their blood tests.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kavya Chand appreciated the efforts of The Hans India towards the health care of women and suggested to conduct such programmes periodically covering all the areas in the city.
