Class IX student leads ‘Save Godavari’ works

Rajamahendravaram: A ninth class student K Vaishnavi (13) has been striving to clean River Godavari at some ghats in the city continuously for nine days.

As part of it, she along with her friends cleared the garbage at Shankar Ghat. 

Now, they have been working at Durga Ghat. At Shankar Ghat, it took nine days to clean it. The programme was taken up under Save Godavari initiative.

Vaishnavi said that when she went to Godavari bund some days ago, the ghats were full of garbage and other waste material. 

The poor appearance of the ghats prompted her to take up the cleaning task. 

Cleaning of the river at the ghats would be continued for some more days which was the need of the hour, she added.
