Officials not using MPLADS funds: MP
Ongole: Officials in Prakasam district are reportedly not utilising the funds of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), pointed out Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy.
He said that he had allocated Rs 23.58 crore, including the funds under employment guarantee scheme, but the officials utilised only Rs 7.27 crore for the past four years.
He alleged that the government is playing politics with the public issues and making them suffer to avoid credit to the opposition party MP. Every MP gets Rs 5 crore under MPLADS annually to fund any work in his area which is executed by the district authorities concerned.
According to Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy, he had allocated Rs 23.58 crore funds, including the matching grant of Rs 4.03 crore under employment guarantee scheme for various works in the district but the officials are able to utilise only Rs 7.27 crore.
Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy said that the officials wasted last four years without completing the works in time. He said that he might not get any funds for the fifth year as they tendered resignation for the MP seat. He advised the district administration to give necessary permissions for the pending works and see they are completed in time.
