Tobacco No 1 killer, says CP

Vijayawada: Maximum number of deaths occurs due to tobacco consumption across the world, said City Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang. 
 
He participated in the poster release programme to mark World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) organised by Andhra Pradesh State Journalist Association (APSJA) at Commissioner’s office here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said creating awareness on bad effects of tobacco consumption was a novel initiative taken by the APSJA. 
 
Krishnam Raju of journalist association said that 60 lakh people die due to tobacco and tobacco product consumption across the world and about 10 lakh people die in India alone per year. He said that the campaign would increase awareness on the link between tobacco and heart and other cardiovascular diseases.
