Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said claim amount under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)-Chandranna Bima scheme would be handed over the victim’s family on the 11th day after death. He launched the third phase of Chandranna Bima scheme for 2018-19 at a programme at his residence in Undavalli on Friday.

The Chief Minister said most of the drivers were vulnerable, since they were losing lives in accidents and added that the main objective of the scheme was to provide relief to the families of unorganised workers in case of death or disability. “The death or disability due to accident of an unorganised worker results in misery to his family members,” he said.  Ensuring transparency in providing benefits to the beneficiaries, the government removed the middlemen and ensured everything through online, he explained.

Encouraging the women folk to prepare for unforeseen circumstances, he suggested them to engage in livelihood earning activities and said that he had been striving for the empowerment of women. In his speech, he appreciated the officials and Self-Help Group members who engaged in effectively delivering the benefits to the victims’ families.

The government has been using technology in governance and in the next six months onwards, every citizen in the state could get the government services from their home, the Chief Minister said. Describing the one piase cut in petrol price by the Centre as the biggest joke, Naidu cautioned people against believing the false promises by YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy as “no one will give money for free.”

Accusing the BJP and YSRCP had joined hands against the TDP in the state, he said he himself had fallen in the trap of BJP believing Narendra Modi’s promises but realised later that he was cheated.
