Cruise in Godavari for Papikondalu permitted

Rajamahendravaram: The government has accorded permission to cruise for picturesque Papikondalu in River Godavari. 

After boat capsize in River Godavari in which 22 people dead at Vadapalli village, the government stopped plying of boats for two weeks. In the wake of this, the officials of irrigation, tourism, ports, fisheries, fire, revenue and police checked all the motor boats and launches in all aspects and given green signal for their operation. 

As many as 73 motor launches and boats were stopped for 15 days for checking purpose.

The officials checked 73 motor boats, launches and six punts. The officials identified many lapses in boats and launches which completed 15 years of service and there are no life jackets in 16 boats and launches.
