4K aspirants appear for Civils (prelims) exam

Visakhapatnam: A total of 4,837 took the Civil Services Examination (Prelims)-2018, conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the district on Sunday. Though 11,564 aspirants were allotted for forenoon session, 4,837 (41.83 per cent) were present and 6,727 did not attend the exam. 

In the afternoon session, out of 11,564 aspirants only 4,738 (40.97 per cent) candidates were present. The aspirants said that the general studies paper was a bit tough as most questions were from history.

The UPSC held the examination at 27 centres in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday. Collector Praveen Kumar along with Special IAS officers Shyamala Rao and Ram Gopal had brought out the civil services question paper from the strongroom. The examination was conducted peacefully across the district. 

The district administration has made elaborate security arrangements and transport facility for the aspirants. Generators were also set up at the centres to provide uninterrupted power supply during examination period. The aspirants were allowed inside the examination hall 20 minutes before the start of examination and electronic gadgets including mobile phones, calculators, bags, lunch box were not allowed.
