219 Drunken Driving Cases Booked

 Guntur: Rural police booked drunken driving cases against 219 bike riders during last week (from May 28 to June 4). 

They imposed penalties on 58 persons and sentenced 7 persons for booking drunken driving cases repeatedly. Guntur rural police officials are regularly conducting drunken driving tests and booking cases and producing the accused in the court.

Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police Ch Venkata Appala Naidu urged the people to follow traffic rules. 

The two-wheeler riders must wear the helmet and those driving or traveling the car must wear seat belts. 

He informed that they have been operating Chetana vehicle to activate the people in the rural areas on drunken driving. 

They have been explaining how families will suffer due to drunken driving, if the head of the family dies or sustain injuries because of the drunken driving. 

He urged the parents not to give two-wheelers to their minor children. 

If minor drives two-wheelers, the police will book cases and conduct counselling to their parents.
