Protection of environment stressed

Rajamahendravaram: Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) JSN Murthy underlined the need to protect environment and said that it is the duty of everyone in the society to protect it.

Participating in World Environment Day programme held at Godavari Maha Pushkara Vanam here on Tuesday, he stressed on the need for conducting awareness programmes on environment protection. Due to lack of knowledge on environment, people are facing many problems and environment pollution is increasing day by day, he pointed out.

Plastic is the main problem for environment pollution and appealed to the people to avoid plastic usage which is posing threat to human lives and it takes many years to degrade plastic. Officials of forest department should play key role in banning plastic material.

He advised the officials to put their endeavour to make Nagara Vanam as plastic free zone along with the premises of Forest Development Academy as the two were identified as eco-tourism spots.  Later, officials and students participated in garbage clearance programme at Nagara Vanam. 

AP Forest Academy Deputy Directors MV Prasad Rao, M Srinivasa Rao, trainer Suresh, silvi-culturist Srihari Gopal, Nagara Vanam officer Sai and others were present.
