All set for rugby tourney in Kurnool

Kurnool: All arrangements are in place for hosting the state-level senior rugby championship here from June 8th onwards. As many as 20 teams (men and women) would be taking part in the two-day contest and matches would be played at Adarsha Vidya Mandir playgrounds.

AP Rugby Association President TG Bharth has inspected the arrangements at the Adarsha Vidya Mandir. Speaking on the occasion, Bharath said that the Kurnool has been hosting several state and national-level sports competitions.

This is the second time that rugby competitions are being held in Kurnool, he stated. He further said that rugby is a European sport but has gained popularity in the State. “After the introduction of rugby, around 10,000 students started learning the sport.

Five expert coaches have been hired from various countries to impart training to the students,” he stated. He also said that Kurnool is likely to host more number of state and national-level competitions in the coming days.
