Call to shun use of plastic
Visakhapatnam: Many organisations, industries and government agencies, observed the World Environment Day here on Tuesday. Green rallies, awareness camps on use of plastic, meetings, plantation programmes and workshop were organised to mark the occasion.
HPCL: At a programme organised at Visakh Refinery, Executive Director of HPCL-VR GSVSSS Prasad Sarma explained the importance of environmental protection and responsibility of individual towards developing a greener environment.
HPCL-VR distributed over 20,000 cloth bags to the people on the Beach Road and at Rytu Bazars urging the people to stop usage of plastic bags. M Sudha Mohan, Chief Manager-HR, Shaik Sardar, Senior Manager-Technical, also present.
RINL: Speaking on the occasion, CMD of RINL Prabir Raychaudhury, said that RINL has been giving importance to maintain the eco-system clean and green right from the beginning.
VPT: As part of the celebrations, the VPT released pamphlets to create awareness to avoid use of plastic . The VPT also distributed 10,000 jute bags worth Rs 7 lakh at Rytu Bazars in the city to avoid usage of polythene bags.
