Union Bank of India urged to set up chair in GITAM
Visakhapatnam: GITAM University urged the Union Bank of India to establish a special chair in GITAM to conduct research activities related to banking sector. Executive Director of Union Bank of India VK Kathuria, who visited GITAM campus on Wednesday, responded positively on the GITAM’s proposal.
While interacting with GITAM management officials, the UBI Executive Director informed that the bank is closely associated with GITAM for the past 40 years and would continue the same in future. He appreciated that the university is seems like a green haven with international standards.
He briefed about the present banking sector scenario and mentioned that the bank was actively involved in releasing of Mudra loans to 80,000 unemployed youth in the country. He assured that the bank would support GITAM new initiatives to promote quality human resource in the country.
GITAM Vice-President Prof M Gangadhara Rao briefed about the growth of the university and recent achievements. GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao said that the university is planning to take up research in Gandhian Studies and banking sector with the help of UBI.
