BJP trying to shift Mannavaram plant to Gujarat
Tirupati: Senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan alleged that moves are on to silently close down the NBPPL (NTPC BHEL Power Projects Private Limited), a joint venture of NTPC and BHEL at Mannavaram, 25 km from here.
Speaking to media here on Friday, Mohan said that NTPC recently wrote to BHEL to nominate its nominee to NBPPL to act as MD\\CEO (which is now vacant) for initiation of actions for winding up of the NBPPL without further delay indicating clearly that the project is soon to be winded up.
The former Union Minister alleged that the BJP-led NDA government is keen on shifting the prestigious NBPPL to Gujarat state, it deliberately slow poisoned NBPPL set up during UPA-II for the development of the backward Chittoor district.
Releasing the copies of the letter which he claimed was written by NTPC to BHEL to media, Mohan said Congress will fight tooth and nail any move to close down MBPPL and demanded the Centre to give up any proposal to wind up the much beneficial project in the interest of Andhra Pradesh.
