Collector weighed with sugar crystals : A gesture of upland farmers for the LI scheme

Pithapuram: The farmers cultivating under Yeleru canals in East Godavari District have weighed the District Collector east Godavari District Kartikeya Misra with sugar crystals in a balance in Nava Nirman Deeksha program that was held at Virava Village in Pitapuram mandal on Thursday.

This was done as a gesture of the collector’s efforts in grounding Purusothapatnam Lift irrigation scheme with Rs 1650 crore on Godavari river, which helped these farmers to get the Godavari water through Yeleru canal. 

They have also presented him with rice that was produced through natural farming for the increased output of rice 50 bags from the earlier 40 bags. 

In this connection Collector said that the LI Scheme had helped the upland villages to get irrigation sources for their crops and complimented the farmers for their efforts and the affection shown on him.

He said that NND has been organizing at village level and muncipal ward level for the last six days and the people were particiapating actively in discussion on the subjects given per each day They have also weighed the Pitapuram MLA SVSN Varma with sugar crystals.
