Woman Maoist surrenders
Kakinada: A woman Maoist dalam member Kovvasi Devamma alias Kirsi alias Deve, 25, of Arlempalli village of Sukuma district in Chhattisgarh state surrendered before East Godavari police.
Disclosing the details of surrender to media, East Godavari SP Vishal Gunni said that Devamma worked as militia member from 2015 to 2016 and as dalam member for one year during 2017.
During her three year activity, she served as sentry, providing shelter to Maoists and as informer to Maoists passing on information. The SP said that Devamma area of operation included Chhattisgarh, Yandam, Panodadi,, Bottem, Durgapal, Tummala Gassaru and others. She used 12 bore weapon. Devamma took part in murders, planting of land mines and allied activities, he said.
The SP also said that Devamma surrendered before the police due to increased combing operations, casualties to dalam members and diminishing moral among Maoists and desire to return to the mainstream. Vishal Gunni on the occasion assured all possible help for rehabilitation of Devamma, including financial assistance through district administration.
