Mid-day meals in Intermediate colleges soon
Guntur: In a decision intended to promote Intermediate education, the state government has decided to introduce mid-day meal scheme in government junior colleges and aided junior colleges from this academic year.
The government has given instructions to this effect to the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE). The three regional joint directors of Intermediate Board have been asked to send detailed proposals for implementation of the scheme.
BIE commissioner B Udaya Lakshmi, issuing instructions to this effect, asked the colleges to study how the schools were implementing the scheme. At present there are 445 government junior colleges and 130 aided junior colleges in the state.
Sources in the BIE said Regional Joint Directors will submit detailed reports after studying how the scheme is being implemented in social welfare or other welfare hostels. They were also asked to tie up with those who are supplying mid-day meals to the high schools.
