Awareness rally on traffic safety flagged off
Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Security Council conducted road safety awareness among the software employees and denizens here on Saturday at the RK Beach.
City Police Commissioner T Yoganand flagged off the awareness rally. Addressing the participants, Yoganand emphasised the need for road safety with increase in number of vehicles.
At present 11,05,883 vehicles are plying in the city, the Commissioner said. To minimise and ensure zero road accidents, under the Smart City project, the GVMC is installing 400 CCTV cameras and 100 PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras at 80 locations, 10 Red Light Violator Detectors at 10 locations, Public Address Systems (PAS) at 50 junctions and 50 smart poles at various locations.
However, drivers should be careful while driving and follow the traffic guidelines for a smooth and safe journey, the Commissioner said.
