Call to fight against Attacks on Dalits

Visakhapatnam: Prof Kancha Ilaiah and Dalit Social Mukthi Munch convener V Srinivasa Rao stressed the need for a united fight against attacks on Adivasis and Dalits.

Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham and Kula Vivaksha Vythireka Porata Samithi jointly organising a national seminar on ‘Dalit and Adivasi Samatha Jatara at Andhra University Convocation Hall.

Addressing the inaugural session here on Saturday, Prof Kancha Ilaiah alleged that in the name of one country, one religion, one temple, and one culture, RSS was attacking Dalit and Adivasis in the country. 

“Though the landlords and corporates have been forcibly occupying the lands of the Dalits and Adivasis, the governments are not responding to save Dalit and Adivasis. 

Dalit and Adivasis should come under one umbrella to fight against the governments for their rights,” Ilaiah said.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University Prof KS Chalam presided over the session.

During the day-long seminar, SC/ST Atrocity Act and ground level implementations were discussed. Former IAS officer PS Krishnan, P Srinivas and Balasouri were present.
