IMD predicts Rains

Visakhapatnam: The long-awaited southwest monsoon will set on the entire coastal region and extended to Puri in Odisha on Saturday. With the cool winds, thunderstorms and rains have been predicted in next four days.

Meanwhile, strong winds with 45 to 55 km per hour across the coastal region predicted in the north coastal region, the impact was already started.

The Indian Meteorological Department alerted the fishermen. From Saturday late evening, strong surface winds from the southwesterly direction along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh was predicted, and the fishermen are advised to be cautious and not to venture into the sea.

“At present, the climate is very favourable to attract cool wind (monsoon). According to predictions, a good spell of rains will occur. In fact, during the IMD calculations, the first spell of rains of the south west monsoon are predicted by the end of June second week. 

However, the setting of the monsoon was delayed and now set on the entire coastal region,” a senior scientist of IMD said.

Though the monsoon was set on, except at a very few places, there is no impact. The IMD officials are saying that rains, including heavy at some isolated places, would occur in the next 48-hours. 

Meanwhile, the state government alerted all the coastal district administration to face any emergency situation during the first spell of rains.
