Chittoor: Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy said on Saturday that the TD government has been giving priority to the women empowerment.

Participating in a programme at a private function hall in V Kota mandal on Saturday, the Minister exhorted women to aspire to become entrepreneurs by setting up small and medium scale units with the financial assistance from the banks.

He admitted that certain financial institutions particularly the branches of certain nationalised banks situated in the rural villages were reluctant in encouraging the Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The bank staff working in rural areas should change their attitude and give loans liberally to SHGs as they are paying instalments promptly.

He reiterated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed to improve financial standards of the women.

Recalling the role of the women in the just concluded Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme in this month, the Minister appreciated the participation of the women.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Punganur and Madanapalle has given clear directions to the bankers to offer loans for SHGs. Reddy further said that instructions were given to the engineers concerned for completing the HNSS Kuppam branch canal works at the earliest.

It would be a boon for the western parts of the district to have water from HNSS for drinking and irrigation needs paving the way for declaring the district-free from drought.

He exuded confidence of Chittoor emerging as number one in the state in milk production.

The Minister made it clear that it is the historical need of the state for TDP to come to power in 2019 for completion of ongoing works.

Palamaner constituency TDP leader Subhash and others spoke.
