13 prisoners released from jail on remission

Visakhapatnam: Thirteen convicted prisoners were released from the Central Prison here on Sunday with the government’s special remission on the occasion of the Republic Day this year. 

The released prisoners are identified as G Srinivas alias Sreenu, M Appa Rao, G Krishna, S Subba Rao, S Ravi Kumar, N Appanna, N Sreenu, R Appala Naidu, Appikonda Naidu, R Seetharam, M Babu Rao, B Govinda Raju and R Syamala.

According to the Central Prison authorities, all the released prisoners were convicted in murder cases. According to the government’s guidelines, 16 prisoners are eligible for release, however, 13 were released on Sunday. Due to some technical issues, the release of the other three delayed, sources said.
