Visakhapatnam: In a bid to improve the enrolment in government schools and create awareness among parents on the facilities and quality of education in schools, the State government will conduct ‘Badi Pilustondi’ from June 12 to 20. This was disclosed by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao here on Sunday.

The Minister held a review meeting with officials here on various issues like mid-day-meals, biometric attendance, digital virtual classrooms, civil works, Swachh Vidyalaya programme and the increase of pass percentage in all the subjects for the academic year 2018-19.

Speaking on this occasion, the HRD Minister said that the State government has been providing quality teachers and adopting digital teaching techniques in teaching the students at government schools. The government was providing necessary facilities at schools and giving uniforms free of cost to the students.

However, due to lack of awareness among parents on the improved facilities in government schools, there has not been much increase in students’ enrollment percentage in schools, the Minister pointed out.  The objective of the government is to achieve 100 per cent results in government schools by 2020, he added.

Ganta said that the State government would establish a school of excellence at every revenue division with experts teaching professionals to compete with corporate education system.

The Minister instructed the officials to distribute textbooks to the students at the earliest and ensure quality in the uniforms. He also asked them to conduct TET exam in a smooth manner.

The Minister said sudden review meetings will be held in different districts once in every two months to check if officials are strictly following the instructions from the State government. The officials from 13 districts including Sarva Siksha Abhiyan members participated in the review meeting.
