100 students take part in Calligraphy Exam in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: About 100 students took part in the state-level calligraphy examination which was held at Netaji High School here on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Examination Board director A Subba Reddy attended the programme as the chief guest.

He said that handwriting plays a key role in getting good marks in any examination. 

He said there would be a better chance of getting good marks if the hand writing is neat. 

Students with bad handwriting would lose marks in any examination as it would be difficult for the examiner to understand bad handwriting, he added.

The examination was organised by national calligraphy expert P Bhuvanachandra. 

He said that calligraphy competition would be held once in five years. He said that earlier, as many as 437 students participated from across the state and 100 were selected for the state-level examination on Tuesday, he informed.

The results of the examination would be announced after a month and the winners would go to the next level and participate in the national calligraphy examination. 

He said that Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar would present the certificate of appreciation and prize money to the winners of the competition.
