English medium classes in 7,461 MPP schools
Guntur: The School Education department, for the first time in the state, will start English medium classes in 7,461 MPP schools from this academic year to improve quality education.
While the School Education department sent proposals to start English medium in 9,175 schools, so far, the government gave permissions to 7,461 MPP schools in a phased manner after studying the feasibility report. The English medium classes will be stared parallel to Telugu medium.
The government will supply textbooks in English medium to the students. Badi Bata programme will be conducted for one-week from Tuesday to admit children into schools.
The teachers of MPP schools where English medium classes begin, will conduct awareness campaign on it and motivate the parents to admit their children in the MPP English medium schools and explain benefits including free text books and teaching by qualified teachers.
The SCERT has already gave training to teachers to teach in English medium. The schools have sufficient infrastructure to start English medium. School Education commissioner V Sandhaya Rani reviewed arrangements for English medium classes.
The government is releasing sufficient stock of testbooks to meet the demand. It may be mentioned here the government has already started English medium in the ZP schools and municipal schools.
District Education Officer D S Ganga Bhavani said, “We have taken all steps to start admission in English medium classes in the MPP schools following orders of the government. We will conduct campaign about English medium in the Badi Bata. DSC qualified teachers could able to teach English medium classes. We have provided sufficient infrastructure for English medium classes.”
