Good response to English Medium in Vijayawada Municipal Schools

Vijayawada: After summer holidays, all the schools reopened in city on Tuesday. Parents were seen sending their kids to the school on the first day of the academic year after a long summer vacation.

Municipal schools in the city made a positive progress in getting admissions. There are about 28 high schools, one upper primary school and 76 elementary schools under Vijayawada municipal limits.

Deputy Educational Officer Durga Prasad told ‘The Hans India’ that there was a good response from the parents to join their children in Vijayawada municipal schools. 

He said that various activities were taken up to improve and impart quality education to the students under the guidance of VMC Commissioner J Nivas. He said that they had introduced foundation course for slow learners and advance foundation course for merit students. 

Admissions into municipal schools improved satisfactorily.

By introducing English medium in elementary schools, they attracted attention of parents.

However, on the first day of the academic year, students had no textbooks, which was the big drawback for the efforts put in by the teachers and education department officials to attract students.

Municipal, aided and Zilla Parishad schools under Vijayawada division did not receive the textbooks. The supply is expected to reach this week.
