Health safety week from July 1 in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: With timely response from the medical and health departments of the State and Central governments, deaths can be prevented in rural areas, said Indian Medical Association (IMA) state president Dr R Jayashekar.
Addressing media here on Monday, he blamed both the governments for changing medical and health policies frequently favoring the corporate sector for their personal benefits. He said that every year they celebrate Doctors Day on July 1 and felicitate doctors and paramedical staff.
He said this year for the first time they would celebrate Medical and Health Safety Week starting from July 1 to 7 and added the state medical and health department official were giving false information to politicians and diverting the objectives of the government.
He demanded the IMA should be consulted before taking any decisions and policies pertaining to medical and health department else they would intensify their protest across the country.
He appealed to all civil society organisations to extend support IMA to improve quality medical and health services in the country. Former IMA president Dr P Gangadhar Rao, IMA leaders P Phanidhar, Dr P Anil, DR V Ramprasad, MSE Bose and others were present.
