Light to moderate rain forecast for AP
Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon was normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday, as the trough runs from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Rain occurred at many places in Rayalaseema and at isolated places in the coastal districts. Kukunoor and Velairpad in West Godavari recorded 4 cm of rainfall each, the Met department bulletin said.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Kunavaram, Chintur (both in East Godavari) 3 each, Vararamachandrapuram (East Godavari), Udayagiri (Nellore), Singanamala, Kalyandrug (both in Anantapur), Proddutur (Kadapa), Owk, Aspari, Holagunda, Rudravaram (all in Kurnool), Kunurpi (Anantapur) and Allagadda (Kurnool) 2 each.
There was 1 cm rain each in Yelamanchili, Manthralayam, Koilkuntla, Kondapuram, Nandavaram, Bathalapalle, Brahmasamudram, Chilamathur, Chapad, Alur, Ramagiri, Devanakonda, Lakkireddipalle, Gorantla, Tadimarri, Rayadurg, Vempalle, Chinna Kothapalle, Pagidyala, Mandapalle and Dharmavaram.
According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many/few/isolated places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts from June 12 to 15.
